The document feeder on my hp 7855 printer is not working. I turned the printer on and off, unplugged it and made sure there's nothing blocking the feeder but it won't load any documents. What is wrong?

Two possible issues:

- Rollers are slipping.  If the pickup roller is slipping the paper will not roll through the document feeder.  Find the roller, wipe it down with a damp lint free cloth, then try again.  Swap out the pickup roller if the problem persists.

- The arm or sensor that detects when paper is loaded is broken or defective.  Look in the document feeder input bin.  Normally there is a small plastic arm that extendes down into the tray.  When the arm is pressed back it signals to the printer that there is paper loaded and the ADF should be used instead of the scanning glass.  If you broke or damaged the arm/sensor then you need to replace the ADF.  The ADF or the entire scanner assembly can be replaced on most models.
