Hi @why541

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dn stopped printing after the Windows 11 update on October 24. Since you have already removed and reinstalled the printer software and the print job still ends with an “Error” status, the driver compatibility and Windows print configuration are the key areas to address.

HP’s current support page for the HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dn lists Windows 10 rather than Windows 11 for the model-specific software. The listed full solution is HP Color LaserJet Pro M452 Printer Series PCL 6 v3 Full Solution, version 16.0.19117.636.

Suggested steps for the HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dn on Windows 11

Remove the existing printer

  • Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select the HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dn and choose Remove.
  • Restart Windows.

Try the Windows built-in printer installation instead of reinstalling the older full software

  • Return to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select Add device.
  • Allow Windows to detect the M452dn.
  • If it is not detected automatically, select Add manually and add it using its existing network/IP connection, if the printer is network connected.

If the printer is already installed, check its port

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click the M452dn and select Printer properties.
  • Open the Ports tab.
  • For a network-connected M452dn, make sure the selected port corresponds to the printer's current IP address. If Windows recreated the printer with a different port during the update/reinstallation, jobs can enter the queue but end in an error.

Clear the failed print jobs

  • Open the M452dn print queue.
  • Cancel all pending documents.
  • Restart the computer and printer, then try printing a simple Windows test page.

Check firmware HP also provides a firmware category on the M452dn software and driver page. Check the printer's current firmware against what HP offers before testing again.

About the Windows 10 driver

You are seeing the expected situation on HP's driver page. HP currently lists Windows 10 as the selectable Windows operating system for this printer, and the M452dn specifications also document Windows 10 among the Windows versions supported by its HP drivers.

I would therefore not keep repeatedly reinstalling the same Windows 10 PCL 6 full-solution package. Since printing stopped specifically following the Windows 11 update and reinstalling has already been tried, testing the Windows built-in printer setup and verifying the printer port would be the cleaner next steps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
