Download the latest firmware version available from HP.com to a USB device.
At the Preboot menu, verify whether Erase/Unlock is an available option.
If available, continue to step 4.
If not available, skip to step 5.
Select Erase/Unlock.
Format the hard-disk drive (HDD).
Install the firmware from the USB device, and then press CONTINUE to reboot.
A 33.04.12 error will display. Wait 5 minutes, and then manually reboot using the power button on the front panel.
The unit will begin to run through system prompts after several moments of a black screen. This black screen might be present for 10 minutes. The device might reboot several times on its own. Do not interrupt the process or manually power cycle as this may cause the device to hard lock.
After final boot, the unit should boot to ready.
Important:Rebooting more than required might inadvertently invoke a 33.04.13, which is a 24-hour TPM lockout. Recovery from this state is under investigation.
If a 33.04.13 occurs, allow the device to sit powered on and untouched for over 24 hours. Select CONTINUE at the preboot to restart the engine.
