MFP M18 fw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer shows 4 question marks ont he screen where the cartridges are located. In the log file I find error code 55.300 "Communication error in engine or formatter". HP Print and Scandoctor also reports  'damaged memory detected'.
I have already removed the cartridges, disconnected the device from power, replaced cartridges, etc., as I have already read on this forum as a possible solution.

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!

Are you plugged directly into a wall socket or are you using any type of multi-tap, surge protector or other power splitting device?

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, the printer is plugged directly into a wall socket .

Printer was working fine since 2 years. Scanning still works.

About the only thing left to try would be  factory reset and if that does not clear the problem then likely you have a bunk DC controller. Check your private messages, I have sent you some other information.

I am having the same issue. It is due to a firmware upgrade that was installed last Friday. I’ve just read that the only possible solution is a downgrade but I don’t know how to get the previous firmware version

I have read that this problem has occurred many times with users, and that a downgrade would indeed be the solution. They are sometimes instructed on how to do this via a private message.

Whom have they been instructed by? Supplier or volunteer of this forum?

HP Recommended

A volunteer of this forum.

To me however it appears to be a hardware issue.

Hello,

i have done a firmware downgrade and everything is working fine now! Has it already been solved for you?

HP Recommended

Yes, I reached out to the third party cartridge supplier and they provided instructions to downgrade
