Hi @MISSMOLLY69,

The error code 0xC6FD0913 on the HP PageWide Pro 477dw is a known low-level print system failure. Based on internal documentation for the PageWide series, this error often translates to a "Pen stuck, cold" condition.

The "pen" refers to the PageWide printhead array. This error suggests one of three main problems:

  1. A physical obstruction ("stuck") in the printhead service area.

  2. A sensor or thermal failure ("cold") preventing the printhead from reaching its operating temperature.

  3. A corrupt firmware update, which is a frequent cause of these complex errors on PageWide models.

Since a simple restart failed, here are the steps you should follow:

1. Perform a Thorough Power Reset (Hard Reset)

This clears the printer’s temporary memory and can resolve transient errors.

  1. With the printer still ON, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet or power strip.

  3. Wait for a full 60 seconds. This is critical to discharge all remaining power.

  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (do not use surge protectors or extensions for this test).

  5. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.

  6. Turn the printer on and wait for the initialization process to complete.

2. Inspect and Clear for Obstructions

Check for anything that might be physically impeding the print system's movement.

  1. Unplug the printer (both from the wall and the back of the unit).

  2. Open all access doors (cartridge access, rear access, etc.).

  3. Visually inspect the interior for jammed paper, small debris, or foreign objects that may be blocking the printhead service station (the area where the printhead rests).

  4. If you can safely reach any obstruction, gently remove it.

  5. Close all doors and repeat the power reset (Step 1).

3. Reseat All Ink Cartridges

A cartridge that is not seated correctly can sometimes prevent the printer from successfully initializing.

  1. Unplug the printer completely.

  2. Open the cartridge access door.

  3. Remove and re-install all four ink cartridges, ensuring each one clicks firmly back into place.

  4. Close the door and repeat the power reset (Step 1).

Recommendation:

If none of the above steps work, the error is an indicator of a hardware failure within the print system, or it requires an NVRAM reset/firmware fix that is outside of standard public troubleshooting.

Please contact HP Support directly. They will need this specific error code (0xC6FD0913) and can provide the necessary files and instructions for a firmware re-flash, or arrange for service if a component has failed.

I hope it helps.
