I am upgrading to a new HP printer and want to donate my 6500A, but need to clear the call history first. There was a tool to clear fax log, but how do I clear call history? I checked after clearing the fax log, and all the phone numbers are still listed in the call history.
Maybe a better question is whether I can reset to factory defaults, clearing all settings/history?

As it turned out, I contacted HP by phone and received excellent help.
There is a subset menu that can be found when you tap the 'back' icon... the icon on outside the lit display that does not show up until you tap it. They had me find the appropriate page and do a 'partial reset'. That brings the printer back to the page where the next time it is turned on, it will ask for all of the original set-up questions and all memory is deleted. I have therefore been able to donate the machine to the local Women Helping Women organization with no concerns that I may also have donated a list of contacts! Thanks to HP for the excellent customer service!

Hi,
From the Setup menu go to Tools, then select REstore Factory Defaults. that should clear any listed history.
Please let me know of any problem,
Shlomi

Thanks, I did that... I found the Restore Factory Defaults and it did not delete the call history. The Fax Log is cleared, but the call history is still there.... pages of phone numbers. After I did the Restore Factory Defaults, I checked by clicking Fax, then clicking the telephone symbol with the arrows on that screen which brings up the entire call history for the machine.
I can click on any number and allow the machine to dial it. There are no identities involved, but I would very much like to remove all personal data before donating the printer.

I"m in the same position of being unable to clear my call history, even after restoring factory defaults.
Could you please provide more details about how to access this back button?
When I go to FAX and press it, I return to the home screen.
When I go to Call History and press it, I return to the FAX screen.
I'm in a merry-go-round.
Thanks for your help!
