The printer has Ethernet.  You use a CAT 5/6 cable from your modem to your router.  CAT 5/6 from the router to your printer.  The phone line jack you see is for the FAX.

Hi,

It does not have wifi but it does have

Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port; built-in Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-TX network port

All you need is to connect it to your wifi router using a CAT5e or CAT6 cable and you can print from computer(s) and other devices wirelessly

All you need to do: run setup from your computer(s) and select connect printer to network using wired connection. Please  try the following setup:

the cable would run to far. rhe printer is in dinning room cornner of counter and the router is in the mid basement.

if I cannot make it wi-fi as is a add on plug and play then will just move laptop to print with cable.

when out of ink will just buy a new one that is wi-fi.

the reason for laser was that the ink would not dry out as I do not print 200 pages a year.

last printer was a hp 4620 ink jet but started to make a lot of noise when checking and started to print only the top half of each letter. no error code, done the clean head stuff a no. of times.

Sorry to jump in here, but this may work for you.  Use your house wiring for Ethernet.

also printer dose not fit the eternet connection that is the same on modem . both ends are the same and fit the computer and the modem.seems like the printer needs a regular phone jack and the modem needs a biger jack.we tryed to connect the printer to computer with the ethernet cable but the cable dose not fit into the printer.

thanks for the info, had the wrong plug location.

not very discriptive in the paper manual.

? also if I conect the ethernet cable to the laptop will it print through there  and connect to the wi-fi so I could use another computer that is on the network, as in print from a diffrent computer through the network.

you have been very heplfull . thanks a lot

Yes, just load the HP software and drivers on all computers you want to print too.
