Mine too with the spots in the exact same location... Maybe a defect in a run of fusers?

HP Recommended

I'm having the same problem.  From reading other posts the issue can be caused by either the intermediate transfer belt or the fuser assembly.  How can I determine which is the cause without having to replace both?

HP Recommended

Not real sure, i looked at the replacement part cost from my supplier and realized that it was similar to buying the printer brand new and went that route. Mine was two months out of warranty or something.

You can measure the distance between the marks and it should give you the circumference of the roller causing the problem, that might help identify it.

Printer Test.jpegThe distance between the marks is 2 inches or 5.1 cm.  In the most recent document, the heading FOREIGN is printed in the far left margin.  Two inches down the document is a smudge about 1/2 inch wide with a ghost image of FOR.

Roller.jpgI removed the fuser assembly this morning.  There appears to be a sticky plastic or adhesive stuck on the orange roller inside the fuser assembly.  Is this something that can easily be replaced or does the entire assembly need to be replaced?

HP Recommended

Can't clean the roller. It's damaged and worn beyond that. You need to replace the fuser as a whole unit. Much too difficult to try to replace just the roller.

This is exactly what is going on with mine.  A tech I spoke with says it is a drum issue.  I have directed him to review this forum.
