Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just bought printer. it connected to my wifi, as does the laptop. But I couldn't connect the two, either by wifi or USB.  Finally downloaded HP trouble shooter, which told me to unplug power to printer and reconnect, with USB cable attached. Printer instantly tells me that it has disabled the HP Instant ink program.

As previously it told me that to connect by wifi I needed to unplug the USB cable, I conclude the two are mutually incompatible. Can this possibly be true? Why? And why didn't it all work seamlessly out of the box? I've spent hours messing with it.

And just now I found HP Easy Start (sic) has been using 96% cpu all day. What on earth is going on?

@AndyD1,

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post that you are having issues connecting your printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

Have you connected your printer to different PC?

Let’s start by performing a network power drain. Follow the steps below:

Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.

Wait for 2-3 minutes.

Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.

Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.

Then turn on the PC and other devices.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to do a clean install of the printer drivers. Here are the steps:

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart your computer.

Now click  https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-photo-6200-all-in-one-printer-ser... to download and install the software.

Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Once the printer is connected using USB, please follow the steps suggested in the support document to convert USB to Wireless - HP Printers - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!

Good Luck.

As I said earlier, this is a brand new printer straight out of the box. I just needed to get it talking to my one laptop.

Having spent several hours trying to install it, my feeling is that your cut and paste solution would take me longer than putting it back in its box and swapping it for a brand that has a better chance of working first time.

Having said that, now I've cancelled the looping task, the printer has turned up as installed. So the simplest solution would seem to be to reinstate my HP Instant ink subscription, assuming it actually will print and scan now.  How do I do this?

@AndyD1

I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm writing on behalf of my colleague @Jeet_singh, as the tech is out for the day, That said, I have reviewed your concern and the entire conversation - the steps he suggested may seem like copy/paste but there's a lot of work that's gone into it as these steps are recommended by the R&D Team to resolve issues such as the one you've been dealing with, that said, If I understand this right, you've got a working printer now and all you need to do now is make use of the Instant Ink program, if I'm right, here's what you need to do:

Click here to enroll with the HP Instant Ink program, when done make sure you register the printer and as soon as its completed, a free set of Instant Ink welcome cartridges will be shipped to your drop step, you may insert the same into you printer and it should active any offers that you may have received along with the printer.

If you need any more assistance with Instant Ink enrollment: Click here

I hope that answers your query, if not let me know what you need,

If it did, simply select "Accept as solution", to help the community grow,

And if you wish to thank us for our efforts, click on the thumbs up for kudos.

Have a great day ahead.
