hp laserjet 100 color mfp m175
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an hp laserjet 100 color mfp m175nw that has started printing on a bit of a slant. I had assumed there was a problem with the paper feed, but the paper is feeding properly and it appears the problem is with with the print.  In fact, on closer inspection it is printing vertical lines perfectly straight, but, horizontal lines are slightly slanted. If I print a square for example (which I have done from both MS Word and Photoshop) it actually comes out printed as a rhombus.

I have removed the cartridges and the drum and checked thoroughly for obstructions, and I have tried cleaning and calibrating the printer but have so far not been able to fix the problem... I have just noticed a 'imaging drum low' message on the printer though. Is it likely that this is the problem or should I try something else before replacing the imaging drum?

The imaging drum for this printer is not cheap, so I would like to be fairly confident I can fix this problem before I purchase a new one.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply sandytechy20.

These suggestions didn't fix the problem but they did lead to finding the solution. After printing the diagnostics page and finding nothing wrong with the color alighment bars, I thought I would scan the document in case you wanted to see it. It was then that I noticed that the paper does not sit squarely on the scanner bed... Yes, the paper has been cut slighly wonky!

I now have 2500 sheets of wonky paper to go back to the shop and a few wasted hours of my life that I will never get back. At least my HP is working properly :0)

Many thanks,

@Mike_W_

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP LaserJet 100 color mfp m175 printer. I understand that you are getting alignment issues and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Print and review a diagnostics page.

Calibrate the printer again.

Reset the printer and restart the computer.

  • Press the Power button  () to turn off the product.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
  • Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  • Wait 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
  • Press the Power button to turn on the product.

Click here and perform Solution eight and nine in the document to fix this issue.

Let me know how it goes.

I hope it helps and if you feel I have answered your question and concerns,

Please mark this post as a solution accepted and Kudos would also be appreciated.

Cheers.
