I have moved my printer from an old Windows 7 system to a new HP EliteOne All-in-One running Windows 10. I downloaded the driver software from the HP site but it does not include the simple OCR software originally supplied with the printer. How do I find this software and download it?

OCR software is provided on the original cd for the unit and not included in the download. It could be a license issue as the software is provided bundled with the printer and offering it online could cause issues with the software vendor.

Thanks David. After a fairly extensive serach, I found the Iris OCR disc (from 2010) and installed it. It works using the printer's scanner. The only difference which is relatively trivial is that the HP scanner software does not offer the "Save to editable text" option as it used to. I have to use the Iris software but that's OK. Your help is much appreciated.

As an aside, the Iris support desk completely blew me off and told me the software was included with the original HP driver (wrong) and to check with HP Support - some hope!

Hi,

To clarify, IRIS OCR was included with the printer as a different CD indeed, for a such IRIS should provide basic support indeed.

Additionally it is included with the HP Scan software, either from the CD or the latest full feature software download from hp.com.

Did you installed the Full Feature Software?

It may happen that you deselected the IRIS OCR option while installing the software, that can be corrected as following:

  • Browse to C:\HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1530_MFP_Series\Setup\Core\Iris_OCR
  • Double click on IrisOCR.msi and allow the installation to complete.
  • Reboot your PC and open HP Scan, Scan as Editable Text should be added as an option to HP Scan.

Shlomi
