HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 gives "Printer is not responding." message for HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw printer.  Was working fine over wireless connection about one week ago.  Another computer in our home running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 can print over wireless to the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw printer.  Any idea how I can get my HP printer connected?  When I delete the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw printer from the "Printers & Scanners" System Preference, then try to add the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125-M126 print driver back, I get the message "Unable to verify the printer on your network."  Any ideas?

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you need support and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Approximately how far is the printer located from the WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.

Hi Senan,

My WiFi router is a netis WF2412, and it is about 40 feet from the printer.  I do

have ESET Endpoint antivirus software installed on my macOS 10.13.6 computer.

I don't believe the WiFi router is the issue as I was able to print wirelessly to the

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw printer for the last four months or so.  The ESET

Endpoint antivirus software has been installed for the last four months also.

Wireless printing from my macOS 10.13.6 computer stopped working about a

week and a half ago.  My macOS 10.13.6 computer, other computers and mobile

devices can connect and use the WiFi network services from any place in our home,

so I don't see how WiFi interference could be a possible issue.  Ping test shows

Ping has started…

PING 192.168.1.13 (192.168.1.13): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0

I just printed a document over the wireless connection to the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw printer using another computer in our home running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.  The OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 computer sits right beside my macOS 10.13.6 computer (about three feet away).  Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

It looks like you were interacting with @senan6806, but he is out for the day. I'm KrazyToad & I'm at your service.

Please ensure your Mac 10.13.6 computer is connected to the same network as your other computer and printer

Next ensure the Mac 10.13.6 computer has all the latest updates. Link: https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201541

Also check for Printer Firmware updates. Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Then Remove and Re-Add the printer back to the Mac Printing Queue using Airprint

  1. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

Figure : Example of the Printers & Scanners window

Example of the Printers & Scanners window
  2. Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign  to delete the printer, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.

  3. Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

Figure : AirPrint displays in the Use menu

Select AirPrint from the Use menu
  4. Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.

Let me know how it goes
