After doing a factory reset on my HP DeskJet P1102w I was able to find a way to assign a new static IP address to it.
I too had an IP address of 0.0.0.0 after doing a factory reset and was not able to route to it. I noticed that after a reset the printer has in Ad Hoc mode and transmitting a SSID of HP8AF51F.
I downloaded the newest driver installation package from HP onto a laptop, plugged the printer into a USB port on the laptop, and ran the install.
I then connected the laptop to the printer's wireless SSID it was broadcasting (I didn't enter a passphrase).
I went through the setup wizard with the following choices "wireless install", "advanced install", "Connect to a configured Wireless Network Printer", "Specify a printer by address", "entered the printers mac address" (don't enter any dashed or colons in the mac address)
The wizard found the printer and then let me configure the TCP/IP settings and set a new IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway.
I found it strange that the laptop connected to the printer's wifi in ad-hoc mode, but it WORKED! I hope others find this helpful.
If I was unclear please let me know and I'll do my best to explain my steps.
