Paper added to paper tray is not recognized by the mini screen which keeps on telling me to "Load paper."  Brand new printer.  Worked flawlessly a few days ago.

This sounds like the paper sensor is not activated when you insert the tray.Remove the tray and inspect the machine for the sensor.Maybe the sensor unhooked out of place. This sensor is normally to the side of the paper pick up roller.Hope this will help.

you are right about the paper sensor not functioning.  I've tried to see whether anyting is out of place or detached but nothing is visible.  Paper in Tray 2 is detected right away by that sensor and it is a very mechanism.  Unfortunately, for Tray 1, the paper, wehther it be 1 or 10 or 50 sheets, is not being detected by the sensor.  I think I will simply take it back to Best Buy.

Thanks for your efforts/suggestion
