If i have the correct machine in mind i think the fuser unit is causing the noise.Remove the fuser unit and inspect the gears and condition of the unit.Maybe turn the gears by hand and listen for the noise.Maybe apply a bit of grease onto the gears and retry the machine.Hope this will help.
