I have a officjet 5740 and running windows 10. Trying to print wirelessly and since downloading the last HP update, i continue to receive printer validation error. The printer is online and IP is same. I have downloaded new drivers etc but still cannot print with the printer validation error continuing to pop up. any suggestions?

You're welcome. 🙂
As @Raj1788 is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Let me know if the printer validation error appears on the printer's screen or the computer screen?
Is the printer able to make a photocopy? If yes then it indicates that the printer and ink cartridges are fine.
I see that the reset step was provided in the earlier private message. The BL stands for the bottom left corner of the printer's screen. It is the return arrow symbol.
If the printer is able to make a photocopy correctly then let us uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them. The following steps will help:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- You may click here to download and install the drivers.
I sincerely hope this information helps. Keep me posted. I'll be glad to assist you further,
Take care! 🙂

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
I understand that you are getting printer validation error message on the printer.
Are you facing this issue after an update?
Was the printer working fine before?
I suggest you do a Hard Reset
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Then, use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity
If you have Windows 8 or 10, use HP Printer and Scan Doctor to automatically fix several types of problems that can cause the printer to go offline. Skip to the next step if your computer does not have Windows 8 or 10.
-
From the computer, you are trying to print from, download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor(click on the link). When this link is clicked, HP Print and Scan Doctor is downloaded using your Internet browser's download capabilities.
-
After opening Print and Scan Doctor, read and respond to the screens to resolve the problem.
NOTE:
For network printer connections, make sure and select Test Print to test the connection, and then select No Print after the test has completed to obtain a solution.
If the issue persists, I have sent you a private message, for Semifull reset that cannot be shared in a public post.
Can you please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
Eagerly waiting for your reply!
Cheers!
