HP LaserJet Pro 400 Printer M401 series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Every time I print, I get this message "LOAD TRAY 1. PLAIN LETTER" and I have to press the OK button in order to print. It started happening the Monday. Until then, it printed automatically.

Does anyone know an easy way to fix this?

Many thanks

The prompt implies that the print job has requested paper of size = Letter and type = Plain, but that the printer does not believe (according to its configuration) that it has paper to match these attributes in any of its cassette trays.

What does a Configuration Report from the printer show regarding Paper Setup?

Paper size in the cassette tray(s) in most LaserJet printers is detected automatically (by sensors attached to the paper width and length guides in the tray), but paper type (default  = Plain) has to be set via the front panel menus (or Embeddded Web Server or ToolBox equivalent).

thank you so much for your reply!

My tray 2 was set as CUSTOM and when I changed to letter, it is printing correctly.

Again, thank you and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and your family!
