Hello all,
My printer threw this error midway between printing from a scan file on my laptop, & has been stuck like this since.
Most common error message (on the printer screen) is "printer jam in print paper path - open door & clear jam", but occasionally the message is to "open the rear door" or similar. There are no paper jams however, trust me I've spent hours on this.
Also, you can no longer change the position of the cartridges (bring another to the front).
Test pages from either the printer panel or the HP Print & Scan Doctor 5.0.6 wont print.
I've tried every power down , re start, etc, imaginable, & I still get this error.
I've seen suggestions where one can do a complete reset of the printer, but can't find how to do that.
Suggestions appreciated. I've just spent hundred of $'s on new cartridges.....

It sounds like a paper path sensor arm/flag has become dislodged or broken. This can happen if the jammed paper was pulled in the reverse direction than it normally goes. It could also be a sensor gone bad. Unfortunately It is difficult to say where to look or which sensor is the problem without taking the printer apart. I don't think a reset of the printer will change anything.
