Hi, all,
My LaserJet Pro M402n ran out of paper in tray 2 today, so I loaded in Letter size paper like usual. After loading tray 2, I keep getting a message on the printer prompting me to load tray 1. Sometimes, it asks me to load tray 2 (it is full of paper, though!). I can only print if I manually press "Ok" on the printer, which is extremely frustrating. If I do a File -> Print, it gives me the "load tray 1 plain letter" or "load tray 2 plain letter" messages each time, or to "use available media." After I click Okay, it will print out then.
In Printing Preferences, the paper size is Letter which is correct. The Paper source is Printer auto select, which is what it has always been set to. I did experiment with setting it to Tray 2 to see if that would change anything, and it didn't.
How can I get my printer to print my documents again automatically without having to fiddle around with the Okay button on the printer each time?
Thank you,
Melissa

Just to confirm, does it print from Tray 2 at all? Is tray 2 set on the printer as letter size and plain type on the control panel.

Hello,
Tray 2 was set to Custom for paper size on the actual printer for some reason. When I changed it to Letter per your suggestion, that resolved the issue. Thank you!
I'm still not sure how it changed to Custom to begin with; this all happened immediately after I loaded paper that had run out in Tray 2. I've been using the printer for over 2 years, and this is the first time it's happened.
