Recently I have been unable to select two-sided printing. The box is greyed out and set at off. It did work but suddenly stopped and I don't remember making any changes to the settings. Help would be appreciated. I've only had this printer for a few weeks.

Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. Superb description and great observations made. It is amply appreciated.
Let me gather some information for better clarity to assist you correctly:
- Did you try to remove the printer and add it as Apple AirPrint or secure AirPrint?
- Did you update the printer’s firmware?
I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-m14-m17-printer-series/16647043/model/16647063/... by following instructions from the section “Step 2: Reset the printer
- Then update the printer’s firmware by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c02919168 using a USB cable. The procedure is the same for both an Inkjet printer and a LaserJet printer.
- Later remove the printer completely and add the printer as Apple AirPrint or secure AirPrint only and not as an HP printer. Follow instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-m14-m17-printer-series/16647043/model/16647063/...
- Perform step 3 and step 4 without adding the printer as an HP printer.
- Now check if it gets fixed.
- Ensure that all the latest updates are correctly installed on the MacBook and the Mac OS is completely up to date.
- Then from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-m14-m17-printer-series/16647043/model/16647063/... (HP Printers - How to Print on Both Sides of the Paper (Mac) (Duplexing) follow relevant instructions and also enable duplex printing.
- This should work.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Hi @PeterHaupt, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @DavidSMP, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Try the steps recommended below.
You can print on both sides of a sheet of paper automatically by using the automatic two-sided printing mechanism (duplexer).
1. From your software, select Print.
2. Make sure your printer is selected.
3. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup,
Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences.
4. Select the appropriate options.
On the Layout tab, select Portrait or Landscape orientation, and select Flip on Long Edge or Flip
on Short Edge from the Print on Both Sides drop-down list.
● On the Paper/Quality tab, select the appropriate paper type from the Media drop-down list in the
Tray Selection area, and then select the appropriate print quality in the Quality Settings area.
● Click the Advanced button, in the Paper/Output area, select the appropriate paper size from the
Paper Size drop-down list.
Click OK to print.
NOTE: After one page of the document has been printed, wait for the printer to reload the paper
automatically to print on the other side. You do not need to take any action.
Also, as you need to speak to someone about this issue.
