I am unable to access the https pages to update the security certificate. I am using Chrome browser. When I get the certificate error, and click the advanced button to go to the page anyway, I get a connection reset error. The printer is running the latest firmware, 002_2539E. I have not tried resetting the printer factory settings, because I can't find the administrator pin number label behind the cartridge access door.

Problem Solved. It turned out that I had a network switch issue that was dropping network traffic. I replaced the switch, and the printer is now up and running! Thanks for all the help.

Printer? there are several different methods to access the EWS and knowing the model is required to help you out with this.

Yeah the programming asks for that info but does not post it. As for the 479, I believe that the PIN is inside the MP tray door or on the cartridge door and not on the cartridge carriage. I can confirm that tomorrow, but you will want to check there.

I don't have that label on my printer. I have a regulatory label, but there is no pin number on it. Right now I can't update the certificate because I can't access the https pages of the EWS. I have tried everything I can think of other than resetting the printer to factory settings. This issue appeared all of the sudden after a Windows 11 upgrade, although I am not sure what upgrade caused the issue.

I was contemplating this situation and on second thought I am not convinced that the 479 series shipped with the 8 digit pin code as I believe that program started long after the 479 was released. If that is the case then any password on the system would be one that you added, or if you never added a password you need to input one to access advanced setup features. I suggest you perform a factory reset which will clear any password you may have added but have misplaced,

I have performed a "Restore Factory Defaults" and a "Semi-Full Reset" to clear and system password. I still can not access any of the secure pages in the "Embedded Web Server". IE to install a new certificate, etc.
All interaction with the printer, driver install and Embedded Web Server are responding very slow when communicating with the printer.
I was able to install the printer back into Windows after removing it, but I am unable to print to it. The print queue just states Printing, Error, no description. I am also unable to print a test page.

I am thinking that the Firmware may be corrupt on the printer, as I just scanned some documents to a USB drive since I can't set up "Scan to E-Mail" since I can't access the printers EWS. When scanning, about every other scan fails to write the file correctly. The corrupt files are filled with a hex 0x2A. Is there any way to force the printer to refresh the firmware to the same version that i in there now?? I really need to get this fixed, as the printer is quite useless. To print, I need to put the files on a flash drive and walk it to the printer to print, and this scan issue is frustrating, because you never now if the file is corrupt or not until I walked back to my PC to check them. Any help in solving this issue would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

I just noticed, that when I ping the IP address of the printer I am seeing request timeouts, this again points to an issue with the printer, either some hardware has failed, or the firmware has become corrupt.

You can try this, it should force a reinstall of firmware.
1. Download the firmware update utility for the printer from support.hp.com
2. Open the downloaded .exe file with a program like 7 Zip.
3. You will find a .ful2 file in the archive. Extract only that file
4. Copy the file to a USB memory stick that is fat 32 formatted and only contains that file in the root directory.
5. Turn off the printer, insert the usb stick into the port and then power on the printer. Printer should startup and recognize that there is a firmware file on the stick and ask if you wish to reinstall.
