I have a new network and am not able to change it because the feature has been locked by administor or person who set up the computer. I do not have the password. I would like to reset the printer to factory defult but am having trouble. There is no back button on this model for reset. I tried holding down the start button and unplugging for 15 second  but this did not work either. I would appreciate support on this please. - Thank you - K

We own a HP Officepro 8600 serial number (removed content).   We just upgraded our modem so the printer does not communicate with our modem.  I went to reconfigure the printer wireless connection.  When I go to the wireless connection screen - every item is "locked"  .It says "the system has been locked by your system administrator or the person who set up the printer".

This is a home printer.  I can't see how to access the system administrator, and I can't see how this happened.

Note: I'm the dad and trying to get the printer to work again for our family

Hi @kevino1,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand your printer is the system has been locked by your system administrator or the person who set up the printer . Let’s try to fix the issue by following the steps mentioned below:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Now go to the Security Tab - Administrative Settings.
  • Uncheck the "Control Panel Lock".

Next thing, I would suggest here is to perform restore network defaults and then run the Wireless setup wizard.

To restore the printer to the original network settings

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings.

A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

4. Touch Yes

5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Then run the Wireless setup wizard, for more details, click here

If nothing works, next thing would be to perform a Semi-full reset on the printer.  I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

Let me know if that helps. Thank you!

Cheers
