Hello,

I don't find the option to simulate IR-Buttons with API-commands (serial control) in the Integrator's Reference Manual.

In former VSX/HDX-firmware-versions the command was "button <key>".

Actually I don't have access to a Group-device so I'm not able to try out if this command still exists.

Does somebody know?

Thanks

Martin

Currently there are no remote control directional API commands in Realpresence Group Series.

In HDX we had “button” commands and as part of those we allowed rudimentary up-down-left-right navigation.

Those do NOT exist in RPG.

You  have to use the standard API as written.

However we understand that when replacing an HDX or VSX with a RPG system the control system needs to be reprogrammed.

To this end Polycom has been listening and many “button” commands will be useable in Group Series in future releases.

HOWEVER!!!
They are not the same as HDX and don’t necessarily act the same (they are close, but not exact).

Please contact your reseller or Polycom SE for more info.

I want to take this opportunity to point out a note in the IRM for the Button command in hopes that people will read this and take note of it for future control applications that maybe written.

Comments:
Several parameters can be combined in the same command in any order.

The button commands are not recommended. When possible, use another API
command instead of the button commands, which rely on the current
organization of the user interface.

G'day,

Can you please tell me the expected release date of the firmware that will allow the button commands?

Cheers

Matt

Here is a link to a program that uses the API Button emulation command on Group Series.

This "smart" remote emulator has the ability to change skins.   If you connect to an HDX, it will show you the HDX skin, it works wth HDX, HDX 4500, Group Series, VSX and a special "presentation" remote.   The version on the website is Windows only but I have the exact same package for Linux and MAC.

I've recently added a couple "extra" buttons at the top of the remote.   On the left side, just inside the frame is a hidden button that allows you to change skins.  In the middle of the top is a flat bar button that tells VTC-uRemote to clone itself (so you can control another system), and on the right is a "Mgmt" button that allows you to open a browser directly to the endpoint you are paired with.

Also, on the Group Series I've added the missing "Content" button.  If you want to send content, just click on the word content.

This emulator uses Polycom's standard control port.   (Port 24).   If there is a password set on the system, VTC-uRemote will request the password from the user (It does NOT save the password).   Also, please be aware, the latest versions of Polycom software for Group Series has a default setting disabling the control port.   The user/administrator MUST go into the system management page and re-enable it.
