Hi,
@mazmorbid wrote:They have offered to send me another Q9100, the memory in the manual states "PC2-6400, 800-MHz, DDR2" nothing about PC2-8500? I only just upgraded to 8GB 😞
Great. 🙂 Start with 2GB installed. Install the rest when you have achieved positive results with the processor.

hi erico,
I have contacted HP about this problem and they tell me my motherboard only supports Core2Duo processors, they say the list of processors in the manual do not reflect my actual model but the range of DV7's, they tell me if I want to put a Quad Core in it I must change the motherboard, I cannot put the BIOS from a Quad Core model as the information is hard coded in the motherboard, I tried flashing the BIOS on mine with one from a Quad Core and it did nothing, so that I believe.
They also told me I can change the CPU myself and I will not lose my warranty unless something goes wrong with it directly relating to the CPU upgrade that I did.
Just thought I would share my experience.
So now I am just going to put a T9600 in it that i picked up today very cheaply 🙂 hopefully that will work.
Thanks for all your help anyway 🙂

Just out of curiousity...Run CPU-z again and see what it says is installed as motherboard. Call HP again and ask which motherboard is for the quad processors.

Thank u for answer 😉
But really do i have any chances to upgrade RAM to 8 or 16 GB
and hard disk up to 500MB or 1TB ??
I've read that installation of windows 7 can resolve this problem
because it gives no limit to memory and hdd.Is it true??
If not can i upgrade motherboard and processor??
Is it gonna give me posibilities to install more RAM and bigger HDD??

The 64-bit Windows 7 version can access more, but that is dependent on the BIOS. It has been reported in the forum that the larger hard drives work, but for guaranteed compatibility, nothing greater that 320GB is recommended.
