Hi

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-2136eo laptop, which im pretty fond of. I have now gotten offered a broken HP Pavilion dv6-1255eg.

The laptop it self is not broken only the screen. This laptop has a better cpu and better graphiccard than mine.

Is the layout of these two laptops the same? and will it be possible for me to take the motherboard from the dv6-1255eg with cpu and all and move it to my dv6-2136eo? I know this will void my warranty.

Regards,

Martin

hi,

any answers pls??

Hi,

Memory: 2GB max supported. Here is a link to guaranteed compatible memory from  Crucial . Do a Google search with memory upgrades HP Compaq dv9026ea as the search terms.

Upgrading the processor : a Intel Core Duo T7200 (2.00-GHz) is about the best you can do with your laptop. You must match the FSB and temperature specs with that of the original processor. That is a 400Mhz jump in speed. You will notice the performance increase.

Hard drive: yes. Up to 320 Gb

Video: for your system board it is not upgradeable.

erico

hi erico,

thanks for the answer, but my laptop is not a compaq dv9026ea.

mine is a pavillion dv9062ea.maybe you did the wrong search.

what do you mean i should match fsb and temperature specs?

fsb i know it should be 667mhz..what about the temperature?

is it possible to replace my motherboard with another one which supports faster processor and graphics?

i mean one that could fit my chassis.if you could give me a list of supported mobos,i'd be grateful.

please have another look at what you told me about the cpu, because i'm afraid you did your research for the wrong type of laptop.

thanks a lot,i'm waiting for your answer

The reply was meant for another forum member. I normally try to quote a post to make sure the intended author sees the response. I will delve further into your query after dinner.

It is really not very cost effective to swap motherboards in a laptop unless one just happened into a windfall of locating one for next to no cash outlay.

Hi,

This one is a bit tricky to answer. Both are nice. Espresso black and an Artist edition notebooks. As far as I know, the motherboards are not a direct swap.

You would actually be better off replacing / repairing the broken (?) display in the Artist edition as it is a better notebook.

What is broken in the LCD display?  Is it physically broken or just not working as expected?

Have you tried powering the laptop up and shining a flashlight at the display? If you can still see Windows dimly on the display then the back light inverter needs replacing. That is not a particularly expensive part.

Do both notebooks use identical batteries?

I ask these questions because you can put the notebooks next to one another and compare.

erico

Hi.

I have a HP Pavilion dv2000 notebook, and since my old 80gb hard drive just wasn't cutting it anymore, I decided to upgrade. Now I'd never done much with notebooks before, but since I used to build desktops a few years ago, I didn't think I'd have any problems. Wrong!

I've bought a new 500gb WD 2.5" SATA2 hard drive, and it doesn't quite have the same connectors as the old one. I thought I was buying a direct replacement, but clearly not. So my question is: what should I have bought?

My old one was a Fujitsu 80gb SATA drive, or at least as far as I can tell. Help!

Chris

edit: fixed my own problem by opening my eyes a bit wider! The old hard drive was in a caddy.... doh!

Very well..glad that you noticed that small detail. Virtually all laptops have drive caddies. 🙂

Hi! I've got HP Pavilion DV5Z-1100 laptop with AMD Athlon X2 QL-60 CPU (Socket S1G2). I'd like to upgrade it to AMD Turion II Ultra M6хх CPU (Socket S1G3). Is it possible? Or i must search for Turion Ultra ZM-8х?
