From the Maintenence & Service guide for your notebook series. The max RAM supported is 4GB. So the answer is that it is not possible with the systemboard in your notebook.

Dear ERICO, what would it happen to the bus speed if I upgrade the cpu to ZM-82?

Explanation; the cup which you'd mentioned earlier : AMD Turion Ultra Dual-Core ZM-82 for CQ60 notebook has got this bus speed Dual-channel 400 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory controller whereas the cpu which I have in my laptop (compq cq60-415so) has this cpu AMD Athlon 64 QI-46 with lower bus speed Dual-channel 333 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory controller .

The question is: according to your information if I'd upgrade the cpu to this one (ZM-82), then what happens to the bus speed of the new cpu? Should I have to upgrade the ram to pc-6400 (800 MHz) as well for the best result? - What FSB can the motherboard support anyway?

Upgrade HP ENVY 17 3D

I want to upgrade my laptop HP ENVY 17 3D, item number A2Q43EA # ACB.

I want to replace the processor Intel Quad Core i7-2670QM on Intel Quad Core i7-3820QM.

I suppose that would also have to change:

1. System board (includes 1 GB of discrete graphics subsystem memory and replacement thermal material): install 689999-001 instead 689998-001;

2. Fan/heatsink assembly (includes replacement thermal material): install 689993-001 instead 665908-001;

3. Top cover (includes TouchPad and cable): install 690000-001 instead 665935-001;

4. Keyboard bracket: install 689994-001 instead 665910-001;

5. Audio / USB board (includes cable): install 689997-001 instead 685720-001;

6. Card Reader board (includes cable): set 689995-001 instead 665923-001.

Q: I did not miss anything?

In fact, all these parts have to be replaced?

Hi Elis67,

I understand that you are wanting to upgrade your processor. After looking through the Manual here, the processor that you are wanting to upgrade to is not supported. If you look under the 'Removal and Replacement Procedure' of the manual will explain what you can upgrade to and what needs to be upgraded.

Hi Elis67,

With regards to your question the mother board does not support the processor that you want to upgrade. As a result you will have to replace the system board which means that the other components may no longer be compatible. There is no definitive way to know if those components need to be replaced, with out reviewing your replacement mother boards specification.
