I also have this "SAME EXACT PROBLEM" and its freaking annoying! I even re-installed the Factory OS and sometimes "NOT ALWAYS" it will throw up that BSOD! It does this even if I am not gaming on it! HP FIX THIS!

0x0000009F - BSOD Driver Power State Failure, ntoskrnl.exe.

IT APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO THE NVIDIA CARD! I DO HAVE BIOS F.08 -

That Windows troubleshooting wizard you recommend isn't very helpful. All it says is: Hardware changes might not have been detected.

I have no idea what that means.

After the first week or so of owning the Omen and updates have been pushed and installed, I'm happy to say that my machine has been running beautifully. No longer receiving the blue screen of death(knock on wood), I have no, and never have, any issues with my screen. Everything seems to be in order, and I am enjoying my Omen. It gets used very frequently, and my girl games on it for HOURS in the evening, playing Civ with all the details cranked up, no issues. I hope the rest of you get your machine's issues worked out, because it's truly a great machine when functioning properly, and I would recommend it to others.

Hi @eweb101 s

Thank you for your input.

If you check Device Manager do you see any errors?

You could also try this . In Device manager do a scan for hardware changes.  Does anything change?

If you still have an issue please contact HP support for assistance as it is a new machine.

Hi, i have the same problem, i have buy the Notebook HP OMEN - 15-5000nd (ENERGY STAR) in november and on first month everything have run nicely but in december i started to have this problem with the  driver_power_state_failure.

I reinstalled windows and drivers  several times but afther a few day's i start to have the same problem, i figure out that if i unplug the energy cable and replug in afther start windows, the things work ok for some time and i can run games.

I mainly play World of Warcraft that is compatible with every thing on the sistem, so i don't know what is the problem, can someone help me.

Tank you for your time.

azezalsky I've found that the problem only happens for me when the laptop is unplugged.  Sounds like you're seeing something similar because if you unplug then replug, the problem doesn't happen.

Hi @azezalsky

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.
