Hi @Rudi78,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer can print PDFs and screenshots but fails when printing photos, showing “Finished unsuccessfully.” Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the printer and your phone
Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then power it back on.
Restart your phone to clear any temporary print or memory errors.

Check paper type and photo settings
Make sure the paper loaded matches what is selected in the print settings (plain paper vs photo paper).
Incorrect paper or quality settings can cause photo jobs to fail.

Reduce photo size and quality
Try printing the photo at a smaller size or lower quality setting.
Large or high-resolution images can fail if the printer runs out of memory.

Try printing one photo at a time
Send only a single photo to print instead of multiple images.
This helps rule out memory overload on the printer.

Change the print method or app
Instead of printing directly from the gallery, try printing the photo from another app (such as Files or Photos).
Different apps handle image data differently.

Clear and resend the print job
Cancel all print jobs from the printer queue or HP Smart app.
Resend the photo print job after the queue is completely empty.

Update or reset the HP Smart app
Check for updates to the HP Smart app on your phone.
If needed, remove the printer from the app and add it again.

Check ink levels and cartridge status
Photo printing uses more color ink than documents.
Low or partially blocked color ink can cause photo jobs to stop while PDFs still print.

I hope this helps.
