Recently changed internet companies. I have been unable to get my printer in the network.  When going to the admin page... I see  2.4 and 5.0 for the network.  I would think with my printer being older, it would just jump on the 2.4.. but no go. Tried to connect by pressing the button on the router ( don't know if it is too far) but won't connect. Tried PIN method and again no go!  Attempt to factory reset and it revert back to previous settings.  Tried adding using the USB cable and it assgned the network setting  and it work for a short time and then fell off again.,...  help!

@pfjones,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post you're having issues connecting your HP LaserJet printer to the network. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

When was the last time it worked?

What is status of the wireless light? Is it blinking or steady.

Have you ensured that the printer and computer are on the same network.

Please check your printer only support 2.4 GHz network.and try changing the router channels either to 6 or 11.

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

If the wireless light is blinking and not connected. I would suggest here is to restore the printer to the network defaults. Once done, run the wireless setup wizard and connect the printer to the network.

Restore factory-settings

Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the product and network settings to the factory defaults.

It will not reset the page count, tray size, or language. To restore the product to the factory-default

settings, follow these steps.

CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it

also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory. The procedure then automatically restarts the

product.

1. On the product control panel, press the OK button.

2. Use the arrows buttons to select the Service menu, and then press the OK button.

3. Use the arrows buttons to select the Restore defaults option, and then press the OK button.

The product automatically restarts.

For detailed information, please go through the User guide of your printer, then scroll down to Chapter 10  - Solve Problem  Page number 143

If you're running Windows, I would suggest here is to do a root level uninstall and reinstall of the printer drivers.

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here (Please select your Operating system and version of Windows before downloading and installing the full feature software).
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
