My i phone cannot connect to the printer. Im wondering if my VPN may be affecting it because the WIFI cant find the IP of the printer

Yes, you need to bypass the VPN in the router.

 

Consider using Wi-Fi direct:  Print directly to the printer and bypass the router entirely.

 

Please provide the exact prater model name for better assistance.   I may be able to find some videos that show how to connect and configure the printer and router,.
