I tried to print a recipe from iPhone to desktop printer. Usually I have no issues doing this. Yesterday it wouldn’t print but I sent it to my friend’s phone and he did the same command and it printed. But now my iPhone  has what seems to be an open app on the screen that won’t go away. Usually you can scroll upwards to remove such open apps, but not this one. Advise please.

Hi @Batmobile427,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with an app or a print job stuck on your iPhone’s screen. Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue:

1. Force Quit the App

Open the App Switcher:

  • On an iPhone with Face ID: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle.
  • On an iPhone with a Home button: Double-click the Home button.

Find the App:

  • Look for the app that's stuck on the screen. Swipe left or right to find it.

Swipe Up to Close:

  • Swipe up on the app's preview to force quit it.

2. Restart Your iPhone

Power Off:

  • Press and hold the Side button and either Volume button (on iPhones with Face ID) until the slider appears.
  • On iPhones with a Home button: Press and hold the Side (or Top) button until the slider appears.

Slide to Power Off:

  • Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone.

Turn Back On:

  • Press and hold the Side (or Top) button again until you see the Apple logo.

3. Clear Print Queue

Open the Print Center:

  • On an iPhone, you can clear the print queue by going to Settings > Printers & Scanners or directly by opening the print center if it appears in your Control Center.

Cancel the Print Job:

  • Find the job that’s stuck and cancel it.

4. Check for App Updates

Open the App Store:

  • Go to the App Store and tap on your profile icon at the top right.

Update Apps:

  • Look for updates for the app you were using and update if available.

5. Reinstall the App

  • Press and hold the app icon until it wiggles.
  • Tap the “X” or “Remove App” option.
  • Go to the App Store, search for the app, and reinstall it.

6. Check for iOS Update

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  • If an update is available, download and install it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
