Hi @Ness023,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP printer to an Android phone, follow these steps based on the method you're using:

1. Using HP Smart App

HP Smart is HP's official app for managing printers, and it makes connecting and printing from your Android phone straightforward.

Setup HP Smart App

Download the HP Smart App:

  • Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone.
  • Search for HP Smart and install the app.

Connect to the Printer:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Tap Add Printer or Set Up a New Printer.
  • The app will search for available printers. Ensure your printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
  • Select your printer from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Print from Your Phone:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Tap on the Print Photos or Print Documents option.
  • Choose the files or photos you want to print.
  • Adjust settings as needed and tap Print.

2. Using Wi-Fi Direct

Wi-Fi Direct allows your phone to communicate directly with the printer without needing a Wi-Fi network.

Setup Wi-Fi Direct

Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the Printer:

  • On your printer’s control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi Direct settings.
  • Turn on Wi-Fi Direct. Note the network name (SSID) and password if provided.

Connect Your Phone to the Printer:

  • Open Settings on your Android phone.
  • Go to Wi-Fi and look for the Wi-Fi Direct network name of your printer.
  • Connect to this network using the password provided by the printer.

Print from Your Phone:

  • Open the document or photo you want to print.
  • Tap the Share icon or Print option.
  • Select your printer from the list of available printers.
  • Follow the prompts to print.

3. Using Bluetooth (if supported)

Some HP printers support Bluetooth connectivity.

Setup Bluetooth

Enable Bluetooth on the Printer:

  • Access the printer’s menu and turn on Bluetooth.

Pair Your Phone with the Printer:

  • On your Android phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on and search for available devices.
  • Select your printer from the list of available devices and pair it.

Print from Your Phone:

  • Open the document or photo you want to print.
  • Tap the Share icon or Print option.
  • Select your printer from the list and print the document.

4. Using USB On-The-Go (OTG)

For some printers and phones, you can use a USB OTG cable to connect directly.

Setup USB OTG

Get the Right Cable:

  • Obtain a USB OTG adapter and a USB cable that is compatible with your printer.

Connect Your Phone to the Printer:

  • Plug the USB OTG adapter into your phone.
  • Connect the printer’s USB cable to the adapter.

Print from Your Phone:

  • Open the document or photo you want to print.
  • Tap the Share icon or Print option.
  • Select your printer and follow the prompts to print.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
