Product: Wireless direct printers

Asking for my school. We have access points in every classroom. Can wireless direct printers interfere with access points? 

So what I see is that the wireless direct printer is advertising on channel 1 with SSID Direct-56-HP Deskjet 2600. The access point in the same room is on channel 1 with 4 SSIDs. Won't that cause issues as 25+ laptops TRY to connect to that access point?

Please explain. Should I turn off wireless? Teachers are insisting on leaving wireless on because of the printer ink service from HP!

This is driving me crazy!
