ENVOY 4520 Printer

I have an issue with Duplex printing on the HP ENvoy 4520 printer. I have 1 computer running Word 2003 that will print dual sided correctly. I have another printer running Word 2013 that doesn't print duplex correctly. Most times I only get a single picture on the 2nd page then the 1st page prints correctly. One time I got only words on the 2nd page and no pictures. I have tried to redownload the drivers. Made sure the printer default is dual-sided but I still cannot print using the Word 2013 computer.

ANY IDEAS, it's extremely frustrating

thanks

@BobOlson1,

Your response was super quick. Thanks for the update. You've done great by displaying great efforts and troubleshooting skills. It is amply appreciated. I am really happy for you.

Please try these steps:

First, try to reinstall MS OFFice and check again.

If that does not work, then follow these steps as it is either the a\program or the OS that is the culprit as it works correctly on one of the computers.

Uninstall the printer drivers by following the previous steps:

Then perform these steps:

Log into the new user account after restarting your computer.

  • Then download the latest full feature driver from   the HP support site
  •  and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
  • Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
  • This should fix the issue.

If it continues, please back up your data and perform a Microsoft push-button reset of Windows 10 by following steps from this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/push-button-reset-overview

Then reinstall the printer drivers. This should do the trick for you.

Now it has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you and I've done all I can to assist you here by keeping your best interest in mind. I hope the new product works great and stays healthy for a long time.

@BobOlson1,

Thanks for engaging in the community. A very good day to you. I reviewed the post regarding issues with duplex printing from Word 2013. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Excellent observations and great diagnosis of the issue It is amply appreciated.

Let me gather some information for better clarity to assist you correctly:

  • Did this occur after a recent software or Windows update?

I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:

If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:

Then uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these step by step instructions if the operating system is Windows on the computer that has the problem.

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in the control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/5447920 and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix the issue.

Other steps to try if the issue persists:

  • Run all the latest Windows 10 updates completely.
  • Run all Office 2013 updates completely.
  • Now check for issue resolution.

If it continues, reinstall MS Office 2013 on the faulty computer and it should work. This link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/5447920/document/c044020... (HP Printers - How to Print on Both Sides of the Paper (Windows) (Duplexing) gives complete information on duplex printing.

Let me keep you posted that it is not the printer as it works on one computer and does not on the other. It is the computer that is the culprit and not the printer. These steps should fix it.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

David,

Thanks for the response. Most of what you suggested I already have done with no success. The only thing I cannot try is the reinstall of WORD since it can preloaded and I have no install disks.

I have installed the latest drivers as I thought maybe that was an issue that the other computer might have had new drivers, but that also didn't seem to help.

So having tried everything with the printer: reinstall device, reinstall drivers, make sure the settings default was for duplex printing I am now leaning towards it being a WORD 2013 issue.

Thanks for the advice I will now focus on WORD as the problem
