Printer: HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw
OS: macOS High Sierra v 10.13.6 and macOS Mojave v 10.14.6
Hi, I bought this printer brand new, have been using it for an hour. Now it is having this issue (still within the first day of usage).
Error message: Door open , close it.
The door is closed. I have opened and closed it several times; turn off and on the system several times. This error message just won't go off.
Please help!!!

Hi @JonnDoe,
I'd like to help!
Try the below suggestions-
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Check the toner door for obstructions
-
Inspect the door and the area around it to make sure that no obstructions prevent the door from closing completely.
NOTE:
Bits of paper, packing materials, and tape might prevent the door from closing completely.
-
Remove any obstructions.
-
Check the product control panel to see if the error message still displays.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Let's try a reset o the printer-
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
