Hello, @X139

There is no physical button to reset this model printer.

Did you try using a different browser to access the printer EWS?

As a work around, try accessing the printer EWS using the Wi-Fi direct IP address. Wi-Fi Direct provides a direct wireless connection to your HP printer that allows you to print without joining a local network or connecting to the Internet.

  • Press the Information button  to print a report that includes the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.

  • If the printer does not have an Information button, press and hold the Resume button  for 2 seconds to print a report that includes the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.

  • Ideally, the HP Wi-Fi Direct IP address would be 192.168.223.1. Try to access the printer EWS using the same.

Let me know how that goes!

Hello, @X139 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for engaging in HP Support Forums. I am glad to be of your assistance!

I understand your printer EWS page is asking for an administrator password.

Did you try to completely restore the network defaults and then reconnect to the network? Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

Now, reconnect the printer back to the network. This will reset them to default:

1) password access requirement is turned OFF

2) username default is ADMIN

3) password is BLANK

If the issue persists, then try to access the printer EWS page using a different browser and check.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your time and attention.

The 'cancel - wifi' button combination you suggest does result in the printer status report posting an IP of 0.0.0.0 --

however, once connected to the network, the EWS features are STILL locked out, still require credentials, and the username and password -- Admin and 'Blank' -- (and just to be sure I actually tried the word 'BLANK' as well as not entering a password) do not work, and have not worked previously. The EWS features unfortunately do not reset.

Despite the guidance in the documentation, at least a dozen other posts in HP and other forums, and the assistance of an HP representative who spent over an hour with me last night, this issue is unresolved.

where is the HP information stored? Is there a physical reset button anywhere on the HP PCB that can flash the printer the way any router can be reset to factory default?

Thank you for your response. I have previously input the WIFI direct name and password.

I understand that these steps should have resolved the issue.

Another representative suggested I simply return the printer to the point of purchase and i believe that is the step to pursue. Let's consider this issue resolved.
