Hi all,
For last 10 years I've been able to remote print to my 6830 OJP. Never an issue. 2 days ago I decided to put in some admin passwords on my printer. I was locked out from then on! New passwords didn't function. To resolve the issue I did both a semi partial and finally a full reset and that problem solved. However, I lost the ability to remote print to my 6830's email address as the reset entailed my redoing the embedded web services set up. (EWB.) I did this and a new printer email address was generated. I CANNOT print to that new ( or old ) printer email address. I did some troubleshooting with HP staff, HPSmart App and the old HP connected site. Here is the rub: I can see my existing 6830 on the HP connected website starting with https://support.hp.com/us, I can also see it in the HPSmart App on my iPhone but I can't see it on the HPSmart App website that starts with https://portal.hpsmart.com/us/en/my-printers. My next avenue of attack is to try the following1) check wheteher the USA website has my printer stored as it appears to do and find out if the Australian website has a glitch and won't recognise my 6830 because it is on the USA register. 2) remove/delete the printer from my US account and reinstall along with updated EWB. A rather longwinded explanation but all I want to do is reactivate remote printing to my 6830. FWIW, HP stated that HPSmart App is no longer in use and this is the cause of the failure to remote print. Can anyone confirm that preceding sentence?
TIA

@Magpie90, Thanks for the update—glad to hear the reset worked and you’re almost back on track!
To your follow-up: unfortunately, once a new HP ePrint email address is generated, you can’t customize it back to the old one or choose your own (like firstnamelastname@hpeprint.com). HP used to allow custom addresses via HP Connected, but that feature has since been discontinued as part of platform changes.
As for why your printer appears on the HP Connected site but not on the HPSmart portal—this may be due to account region mismatches or the way HP has migrated services. Try signing in to https://www.hpsmart.com using the same credentials, and check the region setting in your HP account profile.
If needed, you can remove the printer from your account, re-enable Web Services via EWS again, and re-register it under the correct account/region.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

@Magpie90, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Setting Up Remote Printing for HP OfficeJet Pro 6830!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
To re-enable remote printing for your HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 after a full reset, you need to configure the Embedded Web Services (EWS) once again. Follow these steps to set up remote printing properly:
Access the Embedded Web Server:
- Find the Printer’s IP Address:
- On your printer’s control panel, go to the network settings section to find its IP address.
- Open a Web Browser:
- On a computer connected to the same network as the printer, open a web browser.
- Enter the printer’s IP address into the browser’s address bar to access the EWS.
Enable Web Services:
- In the EWS, navigate to the "Web Services" tab.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enable Web Services.
- This may take a few moments. Ensure that the printer is connected to the internet.
Set Up Printer’s Email Address:
- In the EWS, go to the "Web Services Settings" section.
- Here you will be able to set up or retrieve your printer’s email address.
- Make sure that your printer is registered with HP ePrint.
Test Remote Printing:
- Send a document to your printer’s email address from your computer or mobile device to ensure that remote printing is functioning.
Additional Settings for Security:
- After restoring remote printing, you can reconfigure security settings.
- Go to the "Security" tab in EWS to set a new admin password, ensuring it is stored securely.
- Ensure you can log in successfully before completing the setup.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

HI ZOEY7886,
I appreciate your rapid and effective response.
The reset did work. Thankyou!😀
The EWS reset then created a new email address for the HP6830oj which is is far too long to use .
My follow up question is:
How do you change the printer's email address to one of your own choosing?
Ideally, I would like
firstnamelastname@hpeprint.com which I've had for the last 10 years.
Bear in mind I can see my printer on the HPconnected website but not on the HPSmartapp. I'm not sure why this is happening.
