I'm trying to connect my MacBook Pro to my HP 1102w wirelessly. When I get to the Printer Utility and try to open the HTML Config, I get a blank browser window at url: http://localhost:5050/SSI/index.htm.

I've tried restarting my computer, deleting and re-installing the printer and resetting the printer, all to no avail.

Can anyone help me with this? I've seen some solutions recommending checking the encryption type of the network, but it doesn't state what encryption type is needed, nor how to get to the ability to check the encryption check.

Please help!

Hi @Kuz65,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! I understand that you are having issues with getting the printer setup on the wireless network. I would be happy to help you.

Since there aren't any full HP drivers for Sierra, I have provided some steps for resolving this issue.

Power cycle the router and restart the Mac.

Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. (sometimes the EWS won't open if it isn't set as the default)

Open Safari, across the top, select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default. If you have AdBlock, disable it so it doesn't interfere.

You will probably have to delete and add the USB driver back in again in Printers and Scanners to get the HTML to open.

You may have to delete and readd the printer again as a USB connection again, then try and open the HTML again.

If you haven't already restored the old network settings on the printer, here are the directions.

  • 1. Turn the product off.
  • 2. Press and hold the wireless button and the cancel button and then turn the product on.
  • 3. Hold the buttons until the printer stops making noise, then release the buttons.

If you still can't open the HTML config, then update the printer's firmware. There isn't one available for 10.12 at this time, so you would have to use an older Mac or a Windows computer to do this. HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer.

Here is a document you can check out if the issue persists: Wireless Printer Setup.
