Hi all,
We are trying to print from a Samsung Galaxy tablet to a M12W printer via the USB OTG cable using the HP Print Service Plugin.
The plugin is enabled and seems to recognise the printer, but the printer is greyed out and cannot be selected.
We have tried multiple tablets, multiple M12W printers and cables, all with the same result. An HP P1102W printer doesn't work either. However, the print service plugin does work with an older printer via USB - eg. HP P2055DN.
Why doesn't it work with these newer ones? They're on the compatibility list. How do we fix it?
Wifi /wifidirect printing is not an option for us.

Hi,
Sorry, but both the P1102w and the M12w are not supported for USB OTG printing.
Please check the 'Does my HP printer support printing from USB OTG?' section in below link:
https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c05384190
Both are supported by the HP Print Service through a wireless or WiFi Direct connection only, not through a USB OTG cable.
Regards,
Shlomi

Thanks for the response. I read that page as being supported, not 'not supported'!
I still don't understand why its not supported? I can print to the M12W printer via USB OTG using a different app, but didn't want to go down that route.

Hi,
Those are Host-Based printers which are more limited and require a more complex driver processing, therefore do not apply.
I'm not sure about 3rd party solutions which may use difference technologies and designed differently than the HP Print Service...
