Foreign company is using my printer and asks me to call them in order to unsubscribe.

I assumed that all possible wireless options were protected with a password.

Switched off wireless network, will initiate it again after your advice.

Thanks on beforehand, Marc

If your printer is connected to the internet then here is a document that covers the minimum set of security features you should implement at the device.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03687861/

This will help you lock down the device.  As your printer seems to be publicly accessible then you should implement user and password authentication to print.

Thanks a lot for your swift reply!!!

I am still working on it, for the moment it seems OK but I am a little bit surprised that you have to give up some functionalities.

For the moment I have also switched off the automatic start-up, start-off, because I was receiving unexpected prints probably upon starting up. I will further look at it and keep you posted.

I have to add that I am also using a Windows PC.

When I am trying to log in on the website my PC (with antivirus software Kaspersky) I receive a warning: self assigned public certificate. Upon proceeding I can see that all items are locked (symbol) on the screen except for my information about my local wifi network. However it is also blocked you can only see my IP adress and SSID.

Would it be the best to make a new personal certificate?

Once again thanks a lot and as mentioned above I will keep you posted.

Kind regards and once again thanks a lot,

MaMol

You get that error because the printer has a self-signed certficate.  This is because it needs something for establishing an HTTPS connection.  Ideally a person or enterprise would then replce this self-signed certificate with something that was specific for their particular environment and signe by a certified certificate athority.  It is a warning given by all browsers but does not mean that there is an issue.  It's just letting you know that the connection could be unsafe due to the self-signed certificate at the printer.

Dear,

thanks a lot for your reply.

I do understand your information about the certificate.

I won't change the certificate.

Right now the printer is working as expected!

Kind regards,

MaMol
