When I open the Embedded Web Server website for my HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer I see an annoying "Certificate Error" message saying that the URL HPOccam has a Self-signed certificate and "Cannot guarantee the authenticity of the domain to which encrypted connection is established."
I don't understand why HP has set up these websites to control one's HP printer from anywhere on the internet, without the proper certificate installed on them to not alert A/V software.
My new HP ENVY laptop came with a 30-day trial of McAfee, but I already had a 3-year subscription to Kaspersky Total Security so I switched to that product. Both A/V software programs however sounded alerts whenever I open my HP Embedded Web Server using Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, or Firefox.
These alerts never stop, even after I dismiss the warnings as Administrator.
I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.82).
I hope that someone can please help me to solve this issue. Is this a matter of adding the certificate to the Windows Registry or Certificate Store, as detailed in a Microsoft article?
The more that I research this issue, the more confused I become! 😉
Thanks!
Cheers,
Joel

Hi @Ectophile,
Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to the Embedded Web Server (EWS) issue.
I understand that every time you try to access your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer's EWS you are getting a "Certificate Error" that warns that "Cannot guarantee the authenticity of the domain to which encrypted connection is established." I would like to help.
This is an issue with Windows not reconizing the EWS as beingt trusted, which of course you can.
In my search for information on this issue I found this Microsoft Community Forums post that might be useful - windows 10/edge certificate error.
