How do you access scanned documents in the cloud

Welcome to HP Support Community, @Tricia79.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

That's a great question. "The cloud" refers to various online services, and where your scanned document is saved depends entirely on the device or application you used to scan it.

Here are the most likely places to find your document.

1. If You Used a Mobile Scanning App
If you used an app on your smartphone, the file is likely stored in that app's associated cloud service.

  1. Adobe Scan: Your document is in the Adobe Document Cloud. You can find it by logging into the Adobe Scan app or the Adobe website.
  2. Microsoft Lens: Your document is most likely saved in your OneDrive account, typically in a folder named "Microsoft Lens."
  3. Google Drive (Scan feature): Your document was saved directly into your Google Drive account as a PDF.
  4. Apple Notes: The scan is saved within the Notes app and synced with your iCloud account.
  5. What to do: Open the specific app you used for scanning or log into the associated cloud service (OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud) to find your file.

2. If You Used a Desktop Scanner or All-in-One Printer
If you scanned your document using a physical scanner connected to your computer, the location was determined by the scanning software.

  1. Manufacturer's Software (like HP Smart): Modern printer software often gives you the option to save scans to a cloud service. You may have saved it to your HP Smart account, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
  2. General Cloud Storage: You may have scanned the document and saved it to a local folder on your computer that is synced with a service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.
  3. What to do: Check the cloud storage service you use most often. You should also check the specific application for your printer (for example, the HP Smart app).

3. If You Used a "Scan to Email" Feature.

  1. Many office printers have a "Scan to Email" function. If you used this, the "cloud" is simply your email inbox.
  2. What to do: Check your email inbox and spam folder for a message from the scanner, which will have your document as an attachment.

To help me give you more specific steps, please let me know: What device and software did you use to create the scan?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
