Can  I scan a document on the HP envy 50570 to my iPhone 16?  I keep getting a code to download to visit 123.hp.com/setup to download software. I did but still doesn’t scan

Yes, you can scan documents from the HP ENVY 5050 All-in-One Printer to your iPhone 16 using the HP Smart app, which is designed for mobile scanning and printing. 

 

Since you’ve already downloaded it from 123.hp.com/setup, let’s walk through a few key checks and steps to help resolve the issue:

 

1. Confirm Printer Connection

  • Make sure your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone.
  • Open the HP Smart app and check if your printer appears on the home screen. If not, tap “Add Printer” and follow the prompts.

 

2. Enable Scan Function

  • In the HP Smart app, tap the “Scan” tile.
  • Choose “Printer Scanner” as the source (not “Camera”).
  • Place your document on the scanner glass and tap “Scan”.

 

3. Update Firmware and App

  • Visit the HP ENVY 5050 support page to check for any firmware updates.
  • Ensure your HP Smart app is updated to the latest version via the App Store.

 

4. Reset Wi-Fi Setup Mode (if needed)

If the printer isn’t detected:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer until the Power light blinks.
  • This resets the Wi-Fi setup mode, allowing the app to find the printer again.

 

If scanning still doesn’t work after these steps, you can also try the Diagnose & Fix tool available in the HP Smart app for iOS. It checks for common issues and walks you through repairs.
