Hi @Mekenzie_A,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you’re having trouble connecting your HP LaserJet Pro to a new Wi-Fi network and you don’t have a WPS button on your router, you can still connect the printer using several alternative methods. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Connect via HP Smart App

1.1. Ensure Printer is Powered On

  • Make sure your HP LaserJet Pro is powered on and in a ready state.

1.2. Install HP Smart App

  • Download: Install the HP Smart app from the HP Smart App website or your device’s app store.
  • Open HP Smart App: Launch the app on your computer or mobile device.

1.3. Add Printer

  • Add Printer: In the HP Smart app, select + or Add Printer.
  • Follow Instructions: Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the new Wi-Fi network.

1.4. Connect to Printer’s Temporary Network

  • Wi-Fi Direct Mode: If the printer is not visible, it might be in Wi-Fi Direct mode. You might need to connect directly to the printer’s temporary network to configure it:
    • Connect to Printer Network: Go to your computer’s Wi-Fi settings and connect to the printer’s temporary Wi-Fi network (the network name will usually start with HP).
    • Complete Setup: Return to the HP Smart app and complete the setup process, selecting your new Wi-Fi network.

2. Use the Printer’s Control Panel

2.1. Access Wireless Setup

  • Printer Menu: On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wireless or Network Setup.
  • Network Setup: Select Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Setup.

2.2. Select Network

  • Find Network: The printer will search for available networks. Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list.
  • Enter Password: Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted and confirm.

2.3. Complete Setup

  • Confirmation: Wait for the printer to connect to the network. The printer should indicate a successful connection through its display.

3. Manual Wireless Configuration Using Printer’s Web Interface

3.1. Find Printer’s IP Address

  • Print Network Configuration Page: Use the printer’s control panel to print a network configuration page. This page will include the printer’s IP address.

3.2. Access Printer’s Web Interface

  • Open Web Browser: On your computer, open a web browser.
  • Enter IP Address: Type the printer’s IP address into the browser’s address bar and press Enter. This will open the printer’s web interface.

3.3. Configure Wireless Settings

  • Login: You might need to log in. The default credentials are usually admin for both username and password, but check your printer’s manual for specifics.
  • Wireless Setup: Navigate to the wireless settings and select your new Wi-Fi network. Enter the password and apply the changes.

4. Reinstall Printer Drivers

4.1. Download Drivers

  • Visit HP Support: Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP LaserJet Pro.

4.2. Install Drivers

  • Run Installer: Follow the installation instructions. During the setup process, select Wireless or Network as the connection type.

4.3. Add Printer

  • Add Printer: The driver installation should prompt you to add your printer. Follow the prompts to connect it to the new Wi-Fi network.

5. Check Router Settings

5.1. Verify Router Configuration

  • Check Router Settings: Ensure that your router is properly configured and that there are no restrictions (like MAC address filtering) that could be preventing the printer from connecting.

5.2. Check Wireless Band

  • Network Band: Ensure the printer supports the wireless band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) that your router is using. Most printers support 2.4 GHz networks.

6. Reset Network Settings on Printer

6.1. Perform Network Reset

  • Access Printer Menu: On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Setup or Wireless Settings.
  • Reset Network Settings: Look for an option to Restore Network Defaults or Reset Network Settings. Confirm the reset and then reconfigure the wireless settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
