Hi,
I keep on getting 'Paper Size Mismatch' errors when I send a printjob. I loaded the printer with A4 plain paper. I have set the paper size to A4 plain paper in the application (Word) thats invoking the print job, and I set the paper size to A4 plain paper on the printer itself and I also set the paper size to A4 plain paper in the Printer Home Page (EWS). The error message also states "The paper size detected by the printer is smaller than the paper size selected for the print job (A4(210x297mm)). The current print job will be cancelled". From the error message, why is the paper detected not A4 sized? How do I fix this Paper Mismatch Error?
Thanks

Hi @maznihuda,
Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding paper mismatch errors on the printer. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.
- Did this happen after a recent power outage or surge?
- Did you recently change the media brand?
- Did you try to make a copy directly from the printer and check if it copies correctly?
- For now try all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2jjoVCx for paper mismatch errors if it has not been done already.
- Then check if the issue gets resolved. If it does not try making a copy directly from the printer and check if the copy works.
- If it does not copy correctly, please update the printer’s firmware from this link: http://hp.care/2jjoY1b
- Follow instructions on how to do it from this link: http://hp.care/2rHKwDD
- Then check if it gets fixed. If the problem persists, then restore factory defaults on the printer from the user guide: http://hp.care/2AbjoC2 and check again if the issue gets resolved. Visit pages 77 and 78 on how to do it.
Other steps to try if it copies correctly:
- Uninstall MS office and reinstall it and check again if it gets fixed.
- Also, try with a different brand of paper.
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers and check again.
If the issue continues, then the printer needs to be replaced as the issue is hardware related.

I executed all tests step-by-step. Nothing worked from my end-user side of fixing. At last I took the printer to the HP Service Center and indeed there is an internal paper detection problem and they said they're giving me a new printer. My printer is still under warranty. Thanks for the step-by-step detailed help. I appreciate it very much.
