This is more of a post to see if anyone else has encountered this. We purchased a LaserJet MFP M234dw printer and were using the HP 'Print Anywhere' app. Our need was to be able to print from one state to the printer located in another state. All was working great for the first couple months. Then for some reason print jobs were cancelling. In an attempt to troubleshoot, connection to the printer was lost. This required me to travel to another state (the location where the printer is) and try to re-establish connection. Wasn't working. Long story short, after several long tech support phone calls that could not resolve our issue, we were suddenly told that HP's Print Anywhere feature was no longer supporting their LASER printer!!! And that it will now only work with INK JET printers. Really? First off, it took multiple phone calls before anyone at HP was aware of this??? And second ... REALLY ?? Makes no sense to me. Now I'm waiting for HP to tell me how we can resolve this problem. After all, I purchased this printer at their recommendation. Now another week has gone by and still waiting. Extremely frustrating. By chance if anyone is aware of another printer/solution I'd really appreciate it. The whole point is to help out my elderly parents with their finances who live in another state. When this feature WAS working, it was the perfect solution!!

I unable to print and my print is the same wifi.
Basically, HP Smart sees the print but on the WEB don't.
The message is account issue.
The issue is the method.
Why the impression must go to the HP Cloud to return to my intranet?
HP Cloud is unable to see and never sync with my HPSmart installed on my Desktop.
It's a crap solution and there's no support for this.
I use HP Print for more the 30 years and I will never will buy another one again. My printer is Laser Jet MFP M139.
I have to drive to a Staples to print my work. That is the HP provides to its clients.

Hi @fetts

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand you’re experiencing issues with HP’s Print Anywhere feature. You’re not alone—HP’s recent decision to restrict Print Anywhere to InkJet printers has surprised many LaserJet users. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Firmware Update

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup → Service → LaserJet Update.
  • Choose Check for Updates.
  • If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it.

HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
  • Tap on your printer → Printer Settings → Remove Printer.
  • Close the app completely, then reopen it.
  • Tap Add Printer, sign in with your HP account, and re-add the printer. (This clears cached settings that often block Print Anywhere.)

Check HP Account & Instant Ink

  • Log in at HP Smart.
  • Verify that your printer is listed under your account.
  • Look for Print Anywhere in the printer’s features list:
  • If missing, HP has disabled it for LaserJets.
  • If present but greyed out, check if your account is linked to HP+ or Instant Ink (these services are now required for remote printing).

Network Reset

  • On the printer, go to Setup → Network Setup → Restore Network Settings.
  • Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi:
  • Use the WPS button on your router, or
  • Manually enter Wi-Fi credentials via the printer’s control panel.
  • Once connected, re-register the printer in the HP Smart ap

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
