Why can I not now print from my android when it's been working just fine. Now it's on the same wifi account as my phone but that Smart Tank will not print. It says printing for a few seconds then drops it.

What could have happened between monthly subscription payments?

Hi @Starrider57,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It is frustrating when a setup that has been working suddenly stops, especially between billing cycles. This "dropping" issue on Android typically occurs because of a communication break between the mobile print spooler and the printer or a synchronization error with your HP account that might be temporarily blocking the print command due to a status mismatch.

  1. Clear the Android Print Spooler and Cache.
  • Open Settings on your Android phone and tap on Apps or Applications.
  • Select Show System Apps (usually found under a three-dot menu icon).
  • Find and tap on Print Spooler, then select Storage.
  • Tap Clear Data or Clear Cache to remove any stuck or corrupted print jobs that are causing the "drop."
  1. Verify Account and Web Services Status
  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone and check the printer's status icon.
  • Sign in to your HP Smart Account to ensure your subscription is active and there are no "Action Required" alerts.
  • Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing the printer's IP address into a mobile browser.
  • Navigate to the Web Services tab and ensure it is "Enabled" and "Connected," as this link is required for subscription-based printing.
  1. Refresh the Network Connection.
  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the wall for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router and your Android phone simultaneously while the printer is unplugged.
  • Plug the printer back in and wait for the Wi-Fi light to stay solid blue.
  • Ensure the phone has not automatically switched to mobile data or a guest Wi-Fi network, which would prevent it from "seeing" the printer.

Please refer to the following document for further assistance. HP Support: Can't Print on an Instant Ink Enrolled Printer Document.

Does the HP Smart app currently show your printer as "Ready" with a green icon, or does it display an error message like "Printer Offline"?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi
