My HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 is wired to network. Tried printing from my iPhone and after selecting my printer, it disappears and reverts to "No printer selected". Same thing happens on my wife's iPhone.

Hi @TomMar,
Thank you for getting back.
- Your wired printer works fine as long as the iPhone is on the same network.
- If the printer doesn’t show up, check:
- Router settings (ensure devices can communicate across wired and wireless).
- Printer firmware is up to date (HP Support).

I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @TomMar,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I’m really sorry to hear how frustrating it must be when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 vanishes the moment you try to print from your iPhone, especially when your family needs to print something quickly. Let’s restore that magic and warmth to your printing experience.
Step-by-Step: Restore AirPrint from Your iPhone
1. Confirm AirPrint is Enabled on the HP Printer
- Open a web browser on your computer and enter your printer’s IP address (find it on the printer’s display under Network > Network Summary).
- Go to Network Services or Web Services and make sure Apple AirPrint is turned on.
- If it’s off, enable it and click Apply.
AirPrint is usually enabled by default; this just ensures nothing got accidentally switched off.
2. Power Cycle Devices
- HP Printer: Turn off and unplug it for 60 seconds.
- Wi‑Fi Router: Unplug, wait 15 seconds, then reconnect.
- iPhone: Swipe up (or hold power) and power it off, then turn it on again.
Once everything is back on, reconnect your iPhone to your home network to refresh all connections.
3. Ensure All Devices Are on the Same Network
- Your printer, iPhone(s), and router must share the same Wi‑Fi network and band.
- If your router has 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, make sure everything is on the same one, especially that the printer is not on the guest or isolated network.
4. Disable any VPNs or “Private Wi‑Fi Address” on iPhone
- Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and disable VPN profiles temporarily.
- For your Wi‑Fi connection, uncheck Private Address under the connection details. This helps AirPrint communicate correctly.
5. Reset iPhone's Network Settings
- Tap Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Your iPhone will reboot; reconnect to Wi‑Fi afterwards.
- Try printing: Share → Print → tap Select Printer—your OfficeJet should appear.
This clears any hidden network conflicts, unintentionally blocking AirPrint.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
