When printing a file it does not go through to the printer. On my phone it started to say there was no ink cause my color ink was low, but my black ink is brand new and the blank ink shows a full cartridge on the printer. I took out the color ink and selected I didn’t want a color copy on the printer settings. The file is still not printing and after trying to troubleshoot it does not come up on my phone anymore that I’m trying to print

Hi @Amanda0731

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating this must be—especially when your black ink is full, but the printer still refuses to print. Let's go through some HP-specific troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for HP Printer Not Receiving Files

1. Reinstall the Color Cartridge (Even If You Want to Print in Black Only)

  • Many HP printers require both cartridges to be installed, even if you're printing in black only.
  • Try reinserting the color cartridge, even if it's low, and check if the printer starts receiving files again.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can help clear any temporary errors.

3. Check Printer Settings

  • On your phone, go to Print Settings and ensure:
    • The correct printer is selected.
    • The print job is set to Black & White or Grayscale.
    • The printer is not paused or offline.

4. Clear Print Queue

  • If the printer is stuck, clearing the print queue may help:
    • On your phone, go to Settings > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer and cancel any pending print jobs.
    • Try sending a new print request.

5. Run a Print Head Cleaning

  • If the printer is receiving files but printing blank pages:
    • Open the printer’s control panel.
    • Navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Print Heads.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • Open the HP Smart App on your phone.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Firmware Update.
  • Install any available updates and restart the printer.

7. Try Printing from Another Device

  • If possible, try printing from a computer or another phone.
  • If the issue persists across all devices, the problem may be with the printer itself.

Let me know if you need further clarification! I know how frustrating printer errors can be, but hopefully, this gets your printer back to receiving files properly. 😊
