Hi @MJM1108
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 3700 is now asking for a password when you try to print from your phone, which suggests that the printer may have been set up with a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) password or some form of network security. Here's how you can resolve this issue:
1. Reset the Printer's Network Settings
- To eliminate the need for a password, you can reset your printer’s network settings to make it easier to reconnect your phone.
- Here’s how to do it:
- Turn on your HP DeskJet 3700 printer.
- **Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Information button at the same time until the power light blinks.
- Wait for the printer to reset its network settings.
- This will clear the previous Wi-Fi network settings, including the password prompt.
2. Re-connect Printer to Wi-Fi
- After resetting the network settings, you’ll need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- On your printer, press the Wi-Fi button to initiate a new Wi-Fi connection.
- Use the HP Smart app or the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) feature to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network:
- Using HP Smart App:
- Install the HP Smart app on your phone (if not already installed).
- Open the app and select your printer from the app.
- Follow the instructions in the app to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi.
- Using WPS:
- If your router supports WPS, press the WPS button on your router, then press the Wi-Fi button on your printer.
- The printer should automatically connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Using HP Smart App:
3. Print from Your Phone After Reconnecting
- Once your printer is connected to your network, you should be able to print from your phone without the password prompt. Open the document or photo you want to print, select your printer, and try printing again.
- If you continue to be asked for a password, it may be asking for the Wi-Fi network password, which is typically the same as the password for your home Wi-Fi network. You can find this password on your router or by asking the person who manages your home network.
4. Find the Printer’s Wi-Fi Password (if needed)
- If the printer still asks for a specific password and you're unsure what it is, it may be the Wi-Fi network password that you used to initially connect it to your router.
- Alternatively, you can look up the password in the printer’s network configuration page by printing a network report:
- Press the Information button (the button with the "i" on it) on the printer.
- This will print a report that shows the printer’s network details, including its current Wi-Fi settings.
- If it shows an SSID and Wi-Fi password, you can use those to connect your phone.
I hope this helps.
